The Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is continuing to search for its next executive director since the recent departure of former director Mary Arnzen.
According to Marty Redden, Chairman of the Ohio River Valley of the American Red Cross Board of Directors, a search committee has been formed and some interviews have been conducted.
“The position is still posted. So, we’ve got to wait for a period of time to see if we have any other qualified candidates. We did get out the door quick and had some initial interviews and we are just waiting to see what else comes in,” Redden said.
He said the organization is actively trying to find the next Mary Arnzen. Redden believes the position is scheduled to remain open into next week.
“From the initial resumes we received it was decided to interview five people. We may interview some more, it just depends on where we are at in the process. We were excited that a lot of the resumes we’ve received would be considered local people or people who have roots that are local,” Redden said.
He said it would be too early to tell if one of the local applicants would be hired.
“We have to wait for the window to close and we may have someone else roll in that the search committee wants to take a look at we’ll go from there,” Redden said.
Redden said an estimated 30 resumes have been submitted thus far for the position.
Redden said until a director is hired, Disaster Services Coordinator Eli Allen has picked up some of the responsibilities of the director.
When asked when they hope to have someone in place, Redden said, “We hope to move fast but, we hope to find the right person. Mary Arnzen is from a big family and I asked her if she had a twin sister that was available before she left. We are sensitive to find the right person.”
Redden said not having a director will not stop the local chapter from providing any of the services they normally provide.
